Climate Change 4.0 - Digitalization and Socio-Ecological Transformation

Opening of the Spring Sustainability Days at KIT 2022:

ECDF professor Tilman Santarius opens the Spring Days of Sustainability at KIT 2022 with his keynote speech and thematically introduces the topics of sustainability and transformation. Over four days, the project days offer the opportunity to take critical perspectives on socially relevant issues and personal behaviors and to discuss controversial topics in lectures, workshops, and excursions.

To the keynote:

The economy and society are undergoing an epochal transformation, driven largely by the Digitalization of production and consumption. Concepts such as "Artificial Intelligence," "Industry 4.0," and the "Internet of Things" are being hailed as new growth strategies. But the social and ecological implications of this development are still too little discussed. Prof. Dr. Tilman Santarius highlights the opportunities and risks of Digitalization for resource and climate protection and discusses the question of what role Digitalization can play in the transition to a more sustainable future.
