Smart Water - Designing Water and Urban Greening for Climate: Integrating blue-green infrastructure and other planning aspects can mitigate the effects of the climate crisis and bring additional qualities to the city. Smart Water aims to use agile stormwater management planning to enable climate-smart urban planning that mitigates water pollution, heat islands, and flooding hotspots. The event kick-off will be held at ECDF on February 22, 2023.
The Smart Water project is a project of the Kompetenzzentrum Wasser Berlin, led by our Associate Member Jochen Rabe. Smart Water is funded as part of the Smart City Strategy Berlin. The strategy provides a platform to bring together stakeholders from the entire Berlin urban society, provide the right tools and plan good implementation processes in the process. The goal: A smart Berlin. A city is smart, Berlin is smart, when digitization and technology generate social benefits and strengthen the democratic community. Accordingly, the digital and smart transformation in Berlin is to be implemented in a way that is oriented toward the common good, and a cultural change in the administration is to be initiated. To this end, new forms of joint work on overarching challenges and solutions will be established.
The implementation phase of the strategy will also start at the beginning of 2023, and the first measures should also be implemented by the end of 2023.
