The book launch “Virtual Participation, Real Inclusion. Transformative Technologies for a More Inclusive Society” will take place on July 24, 2025, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the ECDF.

The anthology provides insight into the current state of research on V/AR technology and its practical implementation. Virtual and augmented reality are among the rapidly evolving technologies of the 21st century. Researchers, practitioners, and citizens have come together to collaboratively shape the digital society. Diverse application scenarios in education, healthcare, and public spaces are being implemented in practice-oriented and participatory ways within the digital society. This volume presents the latest results from various projects across Germany, focusing on participatory transformation.

Prof. Dr. Heike Wiesner (HWR), Jana Tröge (HWR), Jan Stepczynski (HWR), and Prof. Dr.-Ing. Christoph Runde (Virtual Dimension Center) from the project “Living Lab – XR-Interakt” invite all contributors and interested parties to the closing event. During the book launch, Ministerial Councilor Dr. Armin Jungbluth will give a talk titled “The Future is Virtual – How Immersive Technologies Are Changing Our World.” A workshop will explore the opportunities, drivers, and barriers of virtual inclusion.
